Desire is the 17th studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on January 5, 1976 by Columbia Records. It is one of Dylan's most collaborative efforts, featuring the same caravan of musicians as the acclaimed Rolling Thunder Revue tours the previous year (later documented on The Bootleg Series Vol. 5). Many of the songs also featured backing vocals by Emmylou Harris and Ronee Blakley

It's all over the map, as far as songwriting goes, and so is it musically, capturing Dylan at the beginning of the Rolling Thunder Revue era, which was more notable for its chaos than its music. And, so it's only fitting that Desire fits that description as well, as it careens between surging folk-rock, Mideastern dirges, skipping pop, and epic narratives. It's little surprise that Desire doesn't quite gel, yet it retains its own character - really, there's no other place where Dylan tried as many different styles, as many weird detours, as he does here.

Bob Dylan is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on March 19, 1962 by Columbia Records. Produced by Columbia's legendary talent scout John H. Hammond, who signed Dylan to the label, the album features folk standards, plus two original compositions, "Talkin' New York" and "Song to Woody".

The album opens with "Hurricane", arguably the most popular song on Desire. It protests the conviction of former middleweight boxer Rubin "Hurricane" Carter for triple murder in 1966, arguing for his innocence. Track listing All tracks written by Bob Dylan and Jacques Levy, except as noted. Side one. 1. "Hurricane" – 8:33 2. "Isis" – 6:58 3. "Mozambique" – 3:00 4. "One More Cup of Coffee (Valley Below)" (Dylan) – 3:43 5. "Oh, Sister" – 4:05.

Bob Dylan Format: Audio Cassette. If you like "Blood on the Tracks" then this album is the next obvious step to take. Planet Waves" and "Desire" make up the 3 parts of Dylan's mid-70's high point. Great blend of music. More upbeat than "Blood on the Tracks". Some beautiful songs here such as "One More Cup of Coffee" and "Sara". Oh, Sister" is also one that I like quite a bit. The violin and female backing vocals give this album a unique sound that works very well.

Bob Dylan recruited a handful of guest musicians to juxtapose his ideas into masterpieces of melody. Emmylou adds the Southern Belle sugar and spice to Bob's gravelly, trilling voice. It is not just country and controversy that fuel Desire into being a great album. It's much more a juxtaposition of genres and cultures that Dylan seems to ignite on Desire. For instance, there is a blatant mariachi influence on Romance In Durango, where Harris and Dylan clash in Spanish verses, while horns and Latin percussion chime behind them. Desire is a world of cultural disbelief and shock, with flourishes of raw beauty and power.
