Infinite Worlds is the debut album by Vagabon, released on February 24th, 2017 via Father/Daughter Records. The album was recorded at Salvation Recording Co. in New Paltz, NY with engineer and co-producer Chris Daly. Tamko and Daly worked closely and tirelessly in his upstate NY studio through the winter into the spring of 2016.

Guided by a more mature sound, Infinite Worlds is the rock music we need nowadays, when it seems like home, wherever it might be, is getting farther away. 80. A witty, succinct debut album.

Infinite Worlds is an album interested in grappling with seemingly intractable and very personal questions about sharing space, finding a home, and fostering community in a world that can be caustic to those very actions. Some of the songs that appear on Infinite Worlds started as rougher drafts on 2014 EP Persian Garden. Listening to the earlier work, it’s clear how much Tamko has grown. She moved to New York as a teenager from Cameroon, and until she graduated from college in 2015, music was more or less a hobby.

Vagabon finds various ways to flood the senses. It’ll either come in a harrowing lyric that sticks in the conscience, or it’ll arrive from a soft drone that gradually envelops"- DIY Magazine "Infinite Worlds" out Feb 24 2017 via Father Daughter Records. Vagabon finds various ways to flood the senses.

Album · 2017 · 8 Songs. Brooklynite Laetitia Tamko’s debut as Vagabon is a bold but vulnerable take on ‘90s indie rock. As with slightly-older contemporaries Hop Along and Waxahatchee (and, to a lesser extent, Mitski), Tamko’s music tends to be simple and immediate but her lyrics unspool like poems, creating an atmosphere at once intimate and alluringly difficult to grasp, whether it’s the mournful bash of Minneapolis or the aptly named Cold Apartment. Infinite Worlds Vagabon.

Four tracks into Infinite Worlds, Vagabon’s eight-song debut, we get a plot twist. For the first three songs, Infinite Worlds is an exercise in fuzzy, melodic, emotionally wrought indie rock. Lætitia Tamko, the Cameroon-born and New York-based musician who records as Vagabon, has a tremulous, expressive voice; she can belt without losing this empathetically shattered quality. And if the album had kept going like that, sounding a bit like Waxahatchee or Hop Along and giving off that serious and catchy heartbreak, it still would’ve been a great album. But track four is where things take a turn.

Hi there, this is Jessi from Father/Daughter Records. If you have purchased a copy of the bad first pressing (matrix numbers 151069E1/A & 151069E2/A) directly from us, please contact us at [email protected] for a replacement. If you purchased from a store or online retailer, you will need to return it to them for refund/exchange. The issue has been rectified and all copies in stores have been replaced with the correct, new pressing. It's been a huge bummer dealing with this and we never want to release something that doesn't sound the best that it can be!

I was just listening to this for the second time and thought it sounded really bad so I thought I'd check the comments. I'm glad it's not just me! It gets REALLY staticy when she sings loudly. At first I thought it was something to do with my setup, but other records sound fine. Bought it at Rough Trade, so hopefully the label will still send me a replacement copy.

Bynelad
Hey Ben, you'll need to exchange it at Rough Trade. Email me if you run into any problems doing so. -Jessi at Father/Daughter

The replacement/2nd pressing sounds MUCH better and the label was very easy to talk and in general awesome! If any one else has a bad copy of this I would highly suggest shooting them an email.I've also added the nearly impossible to see runout/matrix numbers to both versions of the silver pressing to help tell them apart.

Hi. I can see that instead of answering my question, you have decided to edit your post. I try again: Have you replaced all those copies that are offered in amazon.uk? It would be a shame, if I have to pay for the exchange, given that it is your mistake that the pressing is bad. I hope you have replaced "all copies" as you wrote in your post. Otherwise you can be sure that you will hear again from me soon. Best wishes,Efraín

Thanks a lot for your comment. I'm sorry you got the wrong copy.

etluc75 Hi Jessi. Thanks for the info. I just bought a copy through amazon.uk. Should I be worried about not getting the rectified version?Cheers, Efraín I received a copy of the bad pressing (silver) from amazon UK. :( I ordered on 8th March and it arrived 4th April. The label didn't reply to my email about what to do in order to get a copy of the new pressing. I am not confident Amazon's stock has been replaced with the new pressing, therefore I am returning to amazon for a refund instead of requesting a replacement. Shame, as I love the album.Hopefully you get the new pressing.

Yeah, my copy sounds terrible! Since I didn't order it directly through the band/label I'm kind of wondering how I might go about getting one of the replacement pressings mentioned in the other comment...?

Ielonere
email the label, they should be able to hook you up.

Awesome music but unfortunately the vinyl doesn't sound the best. Sounded really muffled, almost rough/demo mixes especially on The Embers for me. But anyway, a new pressing is on the way. Here's the email I received from Father/Daughter Records:Hello awesome people who support independent music! It has come to our attention that the vinyl manufacturing plant used the incorrect plates to make the first pressing of Infinite Worlds, one of which you are holding in your very hands. This applies to both color options: Coke-Bottle Green w/ Metallic Gold Color-in-Color & Metallic Silver. Releasing quality sounding vinyl is our priority number one so needless to say, we are extremely bummed. This in no way represents Vagabon as the incredibly talented artist that she is or us as a label. The plant is repressing ALL of the vinyl which will be shipped to you at no cost. I'm awaiting a timeline but suspect they will ship in the next few weeks. If you have since moved since ordering your record, please reply to this thread with your new address. If you purchased Infinite Worlds with another pre-order item, your other items will ship on time with Infinite Worlds to follow.Thank you for your support of Vagabon and thank you for being rad, understanding, supportive people!Love,Jessi & Ken

I love the album but this pressing sounds very muddled to my ears. Anyone else hearing this?

Me too.Looks like there was a mistake at the pressing plant.Have a look at the comment by mitchwagz over at the other discogs-entry (Coke-Bottle / Metallic Gold). He postet a statement by the label.
