Dorothy - 28 Days In The Valley FLAC album

DOROTHY's 2016 debut, ROCKISDEAD, kicked up plenty of Sunset Strip sleaze, a sensibility that is completely absent from its 2018 sequel, 28 Days in the Valley. Teaming with Linda Perry - the former 4 Non Blonde who later went on to pen hits for P!nk and Christina Aguilera - DOROTHY strip away any element of down-and-dirty hard rock, preferring to create a heavy, melodramatic ode to Los Angeles. Lead singer Dorothy Martin co-wrote the album with Perry and, more than that, she's adopted her collaborator's penchant for exaggerated theatricality.

With their sophomore album 28 Days in the Valley, Dorothy embraced a classic rock sound, pumping out tracks with a lot of hazy, frizzled guitar and harmonies that wouldn’t be out of place on ‘70s radio or even the ‘90s festival scene. All of the songs were written by Martin and oducer Linda Perry, lead singer and primary songwriter of 4 Non Blondes.

And If the 2nd album had gone the way many expected it, just being more of the same, I think the band, and Dorothy's voice, would have just become Lzzy Hale and Halestorm. 28 Days in the Valley however feels like everyone in the band got drunk, did some psychedelics, and listened to a ton of Jefferson Airplane. Dorothy is doing one helluva Grace Slick impersonation. And that's not bad. But it does seem like a lateral move as the band more or less does the San Fran 70's rock instead of focusing on their own unique sound.
