The Futureheads are an English post-punk band from Sunderland. consisting of Ross Millard (vocals and guitar), Barry Hyde (vocals and guitar), David "Jaff" Craig (bass guitar) and Dave Hyde (drums). Their name comes from the title of The Flaming Lips album Hit to Death in the Future Head. The band's influences include new wave and post-punk bands such as Gang of Four, Devo, XTC, Wire and Fugazi.

But this new Futureheads album is causing quite a hubbub among the scientific community. Some are already talking about The Futureheads Quantum Phenomenon, others are nervously whispering about cold fusion while giving a conspiratorial wink before vanishing into the dark night. Music critics are ripping up the Book Of Rock Clichés. Sonic cathedrals are being dismantled, nave by apse. News And Tributes’ is not just better than their first album, it’s a fabulous record from a band with an exciting forward catalogue ahead of them. It starts with the familiar. Title track ‘News And Tributes’ continues the reflective mood. The disjointedness of the first album is used to much subtler effect. Syllables rise and pop, as individual bubbles of harmony release their fragrance. It has in abundance precisely what their debut album lacked: dynamics.

Album · 2006 · 12 Songs. Formed at the Sunderland City Detached Youth Project, a . organization that encourages wayward youngsters to learn music, the Futureheads further seasoned their post-punk pedigree opening shows for the Pixies and Foo Fighters. News and Tributes is the second full-length album by The Futureheads, released on 29 May 2006. The first single "Skip to the End" was released on 15 May 2006. The album, like their debut, received critical acclaim, and praise that The Futureheads had 'matured' their sound. However unlike their debut it did not sell very well, and led to the band being dumped by their label (679 Recordings).

News and Tributes Lyrics. Cut down in their prime In silence On that day, February '58 They got what they'd need From Belgrade and back home to sleep. More than a name to millions What could've been changed By all the boys leaving Munich On that day The snow came and sent them to sleep. This fall was greater than them all News and tributes come leaking in As all eyes turn to Europe I'd forgotten the sadness in The voices the journalists and stewards. Cut down in their prime In silence On that day, February '58 They got what they'd need From Belgrade and back home.
