Bob Dylan is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on March 19, 1962 by Columbia Records. Produced by Columbia's legendary talent scout John H. Hammond, who signed Dylan to the label, the album features folk standards, plus two original compositions, "Talkin' New York" and "Song to Woody".

Bob Dylan Live 1975: The Rolling Thunder Revue: Hard Rain captured this tour at the tail end when the participants were exhausted, burned-out and disillusioned. This album by contrast, is at the start of the tour and it absolutely smokes from start to finish. Definitive versions of 'Tonight I'll Be Staying Here With You, The Lonesome Death Of Hattie Carroll, Isis, and Hurricane. Also a wonderfully droll moment when the band is about to launch into 'Oh Sister', somebody shouts out 'do a protest song!' and Dylan retorts 'here's one for ya' and.

Bob Dylan, né Zimmerman, brilliantly cultivated his celebrity, but he was really an artist and entertainer, a man behind a mask, a great entertainer, maybe, but basically just that-someone who threw words together, astounding as they were. The burden of being something else - a guru, a political theorist, "the voice of a generation," as he facetiously put it in an interview a few years ago - was too much to ask of anyone. Live 1964 brings back a Bob Dylan on the cusp of that turmoil. It brings back a time between his scuffling sets at the downtown clubs and his arena-rock tours of the 1970s and after. It brings back a long gone era of intimacy between performer and audience, and the last strains of a self-aware New York bohemia before bohemia became diluted and mass marketed.

My favourite Bob Dylan album. The most underrated of Dylan's albums. A work of dazzling emotional complexity. Always loved this one. I don't understand why it isn't more highly regarded. 14 The Bootleg Series Vol. 4: Bob Dylan Live 1966, the "Royal Albert Hall" Concert. Worth it for the magnificent lead up to Like A Rolling Stone. Telling all the stuck-in-the-mud folkies where to get off.

Bob Dylan, recording 'Self Portrait' 1969. We take a look back at the album, his weirdest but a great one nonetheless. Michael Ochs Archives/Getty. In the spring of 1970, anticipation for Bob Dylan‘s next album was through the roof. He hadn’t released a note of new music since Nashville Skyline 14 months earlier. Producer Bob Johnston then took all of the Self Portrait tapes to Nashville, without Dylan, and piled on layers of horns, strings and backup singers, dramatically altering the mellow sound of the originals and causing many critics to presume that Dylan had lost his mind. Johnston’s motives for the gaudy overdubs remain unclear.

Why did the Self-Portrait 2lp got voted by poll for Dylan& worst album at that time when it was the best impression on him? I guess they pulled it to pieces for it& conceptional work - not being a "Hit Album" and the featured country musicians which were outdated in 1970. Just another example how hard critics can fail.
