Go Pop. One Little Indian. After a few promising but unrewarding years as Joy Division clones, Disco Inferno hit upon a seemingly simple but ultimately world-opening idea: wiring their instruments through samplers. Instead of merely engaging in pop-will-eat-itself po-mo by regurgitating elements of records, film dialogue, or other media, DI engaged with the whole of the world, using their setup to trigger sounds that ranged from running water, the wind, and whistling birds to stomping boots, car crashes, and angry voices.

As ignored as Disco Inferno was in North America, the band, surprisingly enough, didn't get heaps of press in the UK, either, as the album was completely shut out when the major publications made their year-end lists. Two years later, despite releasing some of the most beautiful, jarring, and innovative music of the '90s, the band would be no more. Go Pop sounds even more interesting when heard in context with the band's five great EPs, released between 1992 and 1994. You hear Disco Inferno evolve from the straightforward post punk of "Summer's Last Sound", to the all-out post rock of . Go Pop, as the band gets more and more daring. It's also fascinating to hear the band's two EPs that followed .

Technicolour (Disco Inferno album). Technicolour is the third and final studio album by Disco Inferno, released posthumously on 22 July 1996 by Rough Trade Records in the United Kingdom.

Go Pop by Disco Inferno released in 1994 via Rough Trade. Well, things couldn't be better for Disco Inferno, since it managed to transmit, only for its followers on Earth, the ideal, pop album. An exotic album, weird and addictive at the same time, coming from another dimension. Tune in, immediately! 2mo. Windoze. 60. A pleasant and unique listen, but one that's too lacking in energy for me to especially like it. Not really much else for me to say besides that.

A side by side comparison using the same gear (thorens td 165 with an ortofon om20 & marantz 1060 with paradigm speakers) clearly displayed a much deeper soundstage with the original press vs the repress. The bass was far deeper with a better separation on this og. The reissue is nice but sounds like my CD. Compressed and brick walled a bit. Shame. Stick to this pressing

Blueshaper
Crystal clear. Not a single bit of surface noise, and I picked this one up for $16!

Matty
This album is a gem, unique and groundbreaking for its time. This reissue sounds excellent. High quality pressing.

Throw her heart
Rough trade is better and has real collectibility vs a repress. Please see my review in the og listing

Todal
In terms of quality, would you prefer the Rough Trade release or Little Indian's?

Zulurr
Totally agreed. This pressing is remarkable. The music feels alive.

Amhirishes
Totally agree... I was happy it was reissued since the originals were going for an insane amount of money, but the pressing is MUCH better than I could have hoped for. Nice job.

Kaim

Vozuru
Oh my, looks like they invented post-rock or something like that...excellent

Innadril
the first truly post-rock record ever was Talk Talk's Spirit of Eden, and it dates back to 1988

Agalas
Well slints two albums came out in 89 and 91, years before 94
