Original Album Classics. Original Album Classics is a curious compilation of five original Weather Report LPs reissued on one CD; true fans of the band might scratch their heads a bit at this one. Included are the definitive albums I Sing the Body Electric, Sweetnighter and Mysterious Traveller. The less essential Black Market and their final official release, Night Passage, made the cut. Sorely missing: their first eponymously titled recording, the definitive Live in Tokyo, as well as Tale Spinnin' and Heavy Weather. Some completists might want this, but most devotees already have this material, and have pruned.

Weather Report was an American jazz fusion band of the 1970s and early 1980s. The band was initially co-led by the Austrian-born keyboard player Joe Zawinul, the American saxophonist Wayne Shorter and Czech bassist Miroslav Vitouš. Other prominent members at various points in the band's lifespan included bassists Alphonso Johnson, Jaco Pastorius and Victor Bailey; and sts Peter Erskine, Alex Acuña, Airto Moreira, and Chester Thompson

The discography of Weather Report, an influential American jazz band with a career lasting sixteen years between 1970 and 1986, consists of fourteen studio albums, three live albums, eleven compilation albums, five singles, one B-side, and six video albums. Weather Report's self-titled debut album Weather Report, released in 1971, caused a sensation in the jazz world and is still considered a classic of early fusion. It was awarded Album of the Year by Down Beat magazine’s polls that year.

This was my first Weather Report purchase (just a couple of weeks ago actually), although I have heard some of their material in the past. Weather Report are most famous for their outstanding musicianship and arranging. The lineup on this album is probably the one Weather Report is most famous for. Most people would no what to expect when they see Wayne Shorter, Jaco Pastorious, Joe Zawinul, et al. It's obvious that this album is overflowing with some of the most famous names in modern American jazz and here they put together a solid effort.

Listen to Rockpalast, Offenbach 1978 by Weather Report - a new album (release date: May 6, 2016) @ New Releases No. To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Weather Report, the Zawinul estate is proud to release this live document of the band‘s performance in Offenbach, Germany, on September 29th, 1978. The recording features the most unique group ever to mix elements of jazz, rock, and electronics, at their absolute best. Led by two musical visionaries, pianist and keyboard player Joe Zawinul and tenor and soprano saxophonist Wayne Shorter, the group was also unique in that it eschewed the then fashionable guitar  . 13.
