Cupid Deluxe is the second album by Dev Hynes as Blood Orange, and is the follow up to 2011's Coastal Grooves.

On his second collection of melancholic 80s-inspired pop odes, the 27-year-old oducer Devonté Hynes, aka Blood Orange, channels vagabond emotions into something universal and inviting.

Case in point: Blood Orange's 2nd full length LP, Cupid Deluxe. Dev Hynes is the lead and the key players around him comprise the "company. Devonte (Dev) Hynes - The Star. The London-born, New York-based producer, singer, songwriter, Renaissance man is best known for his work with artists like Solange, Sky Ferreira and The Chemical Brothers, but in my eyes, the real standout was his 2011 LP, Coastal Grooves

Singer Devonté Hynes' album Cupid Deluxe was the most queer-friendly non-queer album of 2013. One album that broke through those defenses this year was Cupid Deluxe, British pop-R&B artist Dev Hynes' second album as Blood Orange. Hynes doesn't identify as gay - in fact, his girlfriend, vocalist Samantha Urbani, performs on over half of Cupid Deluxe's 11 tracks. But his music and lyrics have a fluidity that allows queer listeners to connect rather than infer connection without Hynes himself pushing a forced "gay anthem," and his interaction with the subject is remarkably respectful, almost reverent

The Blood Orange album "Cupid Deluxe" is one of the sweetest surprises I've experienced this year. It's got some really catchy tunes and the album incorporates a lot of different sounds and influences. This includes Jazz, Carribbean sounds, R &B, pop, and much else. This item: Cupid Deluxe.
