Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit it out. More on Genius. Spit it Out was the first song that Slipknot wrote with Corey Taylor. It is one of the band’s best known songs due to their live interaction with the crowd (this has been dubbed The Crazy Test and Jump The Fuck Up ). It also features Taylor rapping unlike the majority of Slipknot’s other tracks. The pre-album demo also included a rougher version of the song. According to Joel McIver’s book Slipknot Unmasked: it was allegedly written in response to the growing rivalry between two Central Iowan radio stations (KAZR and KKDM).
Spit It Out" Released: September 16, 2000. Slipknot is the debut studio album by the American nu metal band Slipknot. It was released on June 29, 1999 by Roadrunner Records, following a demo containing a few of the songs which had previously been released in 1998. Later, it was reissued in December 1999 with a slightly-altered track listing and mastering as the result of a lawsuit. It was the first release by the band to be produced by Ross Robinson, who sought to refine Slipknot's sound rather than alter the group's musical direction . According to Loudwire, "Surfacing" is "the definitive Slipknot song because it gives a comprehensive look over everything Slipknot is: feral, uncontainable, artistically elevated. Distribution for the demo was initially left to the band and their producer Sean McMahon, before it was handed over to the distribution company Ismist in early 1997. Slipknot received a small amount of airplay on local radio stations off the back of the demo. However, it didn't lead to any kind of interest from record labels, so the band returned to the studio to develop new material. It was at this time that the band began experimenting with more vocal melody, something which Colsefni struggled to achieve. Slipknot went on to release their first home video Welcome to Our Neighborhood and the two singles; "Wait and Bleed" and "Spit It Out". The singles received some airplay, but Slipknot developed a large following very quickly mainly from touring and word of mouth. The band toured several countries throughout 1999 and 2000 in support of the album.
