Back in ’83, MANOWAR released their second album: "Into Glory Ride", and this stood apart from everything else that was happening in music: an imperious statement of metallic intent from a band with no fear and a lust for glory, but also one of the most brutal, raw and punishing records ever released. Admittedly, "Into Glory Ride's" savage sonic qualities stemmed primarily from the fact that MANOWAR ran out of time in the studio and were forced to salvage the sessions with a one-off, high velocity mixdown
Into Glory Ride (1983). In late 2010 it was announced that Manowar were to rerecord Battle Hymns for a November 26 release. The album, Battle Hymns MMXI, was drummer Donnie Hamzik's first studio recording with Manowar since the original 1982 Battle Hymns release. Orson Welles having died 25 years before, the narration during "Dark Avenger" was recorded by Sir Christopher Le. .
Into Glory Ride is Manowar's second studio album and the first to feature drummer Scott Columbus. The album's title is a reference to the title track from the band's previous album Battle Hymns. In 2005, Into Glory Ride was ranked number 444 in Rock Hard magazine's book of The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time. All songs written by Joey DeMaio, except where noted. Side one. Side two. UK metal band Solstice covered "Gloves of Metal" on a 2001 split with Slough Feg. Eric Adams - vocals.
