One for All is the debut studio album by American hip hop group Brand Nubian, released on December 4, 1990 by Elektra Records. The album was highly acclaimed for its politically charged and socially conscious content. Sales never matched the wide acclaim - the album has only sold 350,000 copies as of May 2013 - but it has remained in print since its 1990 release. The album is mainly produced by Brand Nubian, but it also features production by Skeff Anselm, Stimulated Dummies, and Dave "Jam" Hall

Hailing from New Rochelle, New York, the original members, Maxwell Dixon AKA Grand Puba, Derrick Murphy AKA Sadat X, Lorenzo DeChalus AKA Lord Jamar, and Alamo formed Brand Nubian in 1989, after Puba stepped away from his former group, Masters Of Ceremony (2). They signed to Elektra and released the breakthrough album "One for All", most remembered for the sampling of Edie.

Brand Nubian’s sophomore album In God We Trust arrived in 1993 marked by an outspoken pro-Islam rhetoric supporting the l Minister Louis Farrakhan. By this point the group were finding it hard not to isolate their listeners, and following their 1994 full-length Everything is Everything the group’s members went solo. The original Brand Nubian lineup returned in 1998 to release the studio alum Foundation. They played their hits as well as newer tracks, the audience went crazy for Let’s Dance, and the band encouraged everyone to do just that. They were great at interacting with everyone in the crowd, getting them into the vibe of the music, whilst putting on a knock out show.

Politically controversial in their time, Brand Nubian doesn't sound like the dangerous, Afrocentric militants they were originally made out to be in some quarters. Maybe it's because their jazzy, post-Native Tongues music is so ingratiating; maybe it's because Grand Puba has such a playful, easygoing presence on the mic; maybe it's just that, in the new millennium, politics are no longer the way rap groups ruffle feathers.

Brand Nubian is an eponymous song by the group Brand Nubian. 1. Brand Nubian Lyrics. Brand Nubian function A junction of three, collaboration in a style that's like funk To slap palms, swing arms, tap a soul Cause no rock rolls down our hill Yo black it's kinda ill, we don't roll no rocks we just fill Heads with knowledge, pure foundation Showing and proving through the manifestation Of our name
