Yuji Takahashi (高橋悠治) was born in Tokyo in 1938, where he studied composition with Minao Shibata (柴田南雄) and Roh Ogura (小倉朗), and piano with Hiroshi Ito. In 1961, he made a sensational debut at a modern music festival sponsored by the Nippon Broadcasting Company, substituting at the last minute for the regularly scheduled soloist. This marked his emergence as a leading exponent of new piano music. The start of his career as a composer can be traced to 1962 and a piece for electronics and twelve instruments.

Born: September 21, 1938 - Tokyo, Japan. The Japanese pianist and composer, Yuji Takahashi (brother of the innovative pianist Aki Takahashi), studied composition with Minao Shibata and Roh Ogura, and piano with Hiroshi Ito at the Toho School of Music from 1954 to 1958. Sponsored by the Ford Foundation, Yuji Takahashi lived in Berlin from 1963 to 1965, where he studied with Iannis Xenakis. In 1966, supported by a grant from the J. D. Rockefeller III. Fund, he came to New York to study computer music and to attend the summer courses at the Berkshire Music Center at Tangleood from 1966 to 1968.

Yoshihiro Takahashi (高橋義廣 Takahashi Yoshihiro) is a Japanese manga artist. He writes under a pen name in which his first name Yoshihiro is spelled out in hiragana (よしひろ). Takahashi was born September 18, 1953, in Higashinaruse, Akita. He was very interested in drawing coming of age related themes, and, in the 1960s, started publishing small comics in several newspapers and magazines.
Yūji Takahashi (高橋 悠治 Takahashi Yūji, born 1938) is a composer, pianist, critic, conductor, and author. Yuji Takahashi studied under Roh Ogura and Minao Shibata at the Toho Gakuen School of Music. In 1960, he made his debut as a pianist by performing Bo Nilsson's Quantitäten. He received a grant from The Ford Foundation to study in West Berlin under Iannis Xenakis in 1962 and stayed in Europe until 1966, also stayed in New York under Rockefeller Foundation scholarship until 1972.
