Betty Everett singles chronology. You're No Good" (1963). The Shoop Shoop Song (It's in His Kiss)" (1964). I Can't Hear You" (1964). The Shoop Shoop Song (It's in His Kiss)" is a song written and composed by Rudy Clark. It was first released as a single in 1963 by Merry Clayton that did not chart. Everett – who found the song puerile – reluctantly agreed. The accompanying vocals on Everett's recording were provided by Vee-Jay session regulars the Opals, a trio of teenage girls (Rose Addison, Myra Tillison, and Rose "Tootsie" Jackson) from East Chicago, Indiana

Killer album, especially for those who deem Warwick’s contemporary output as too soft. Vee-Jay Records went belly-up like so many of the great independent labels so Betty went to Uni Records scoring a huge hit right off & There’ll Come A Time (rich have to cry, poor have to cry and I’ve gotta cry) is memorable, still sounding great today as does the entire collection of amazing glorious gems opening with the fiery &. passionate You’re Falling In Love, sounding like what should have been a huge chart-topping hit!

The rest are good releases that have failed to attract much attention, including a remake of the Temptations' "The Way You Do the Things You D. This set concentrates on Everett's Vee Jay sides and omits the favored "There Come a Time" recorded later. Every cut is more than competent, the productions are topnotch all the way.

Betty Everett had more success with her version, which went to in 1964. First released on her 1963 album of the same name, Everett recorded the song at Chess Records in Chicago, with Maurice White on drums (White, who later formed Earth, Wind & Fire, was a staff drummer at Chess early in his career). Everett was a former gospel singer who, like Ronstadt, had a very powerful voice. She sang backup on "I Can't Help It If I'm Still In Love With You" from the same album. Backup on "You're No Good" was done by Clydie King and Shirley Matthews. Dan from Keller, Txwho's the girl in yellow n the midnight special video? Linda Lewis?
