The Glenn Miller Story is a 1954 American film about the eponymous American band-leader, directed by Anthony Mann and starring James Stewart in their first non-western collaboration. nal's first public announcements, early in 1953, employed the soon-discarded title, "Moonlight Serenade. The 1954 10" album The Glenn Miller Story movie soundtrack LP, Decca Records DL 5519, spent 10 weeks at number one on the Billboard albums chart in 1954. The Glenn Miller Story - Music from the Sound Track of the nal Motion Picture starring James Stewart and June Allyson. Recorded by the nal studio orchestra, conducted by Joseph Gershenson. The collection was a 33 1/3 RPM vinyl LP album featuring James Stewart and June Allyson on the cover as Glenn and Helen Miller respectively.

Alton Glenn Miller was born in Clarinda, Iowa on March 1, 1904. He started his musical career when his father brought home a mandolin. As soon as possible, he traded the instrument for an old horn, which he practiced diligently. During the late 1920s and early 1930s, Miller managed to earn a living working as a freelance trombonist in several bands.

Glenn Miller's last arranger and 7 of his lead players are responsible for the authentic Glenn Miller sound of this CD. But a warning- listening to this CD will make the harsh flat sound of Glenn Miller's original 78 rpm recordings seem less enjoyable by comparison. I love the movie and the soundtrack it great as well. I like this version better than some recordings of the Glen Miller Band.
