Johnny Rivers' eighth album offers about as much diversity of music as any of the best of his early LPs, with a difference - it was the first album where he abandoned the basic guitar-bass-drums arrangement that had characterized his prior albums. His core trio sound was still there, augmented with tasteful horns and understated string orchestra on certain songs, and virtually displaced by some intriguing solo instruments elsewhere.

Rewind is the third studio album by the American musician Johnny Rivers, released in 1967 by Imperial Records. The album includes cover versions of "Baby, I Need Your Lovin'" and "The Tracks of My Tears". Produced by Lou Adler with arrangements by Jimmy Webb, who wrote eight of the songs, the album peaked at on the Billboard albums chart.

Johnny Rivers' most spectacular period of music. Just look at the talent involved in "Changes": Hal Blaine, Joe Osborn, Larry Knetchel, Tommy Tedesco, Bud Shank and Gary Coleman, the quality of music is truly unbelieveable. Tommy Tedesco's guitar on "Days of Wine and Roses" is just about the most beautiful thing imagineable, as is Bud Shank's sax on "The Shadow of Your Smile". Just put this on and be taken away to a time where music was creative, courageous, and thoughtful. No rockers at all on this album, strictly ballads. Despite the change in his signature sound, the album yielded his only hit, "Poor Side of Town", which was also his first hit that he wrote himself. The rest of the album consists of tasteful "middle of the road" ballads, most of which are covers of other people's hits. Rewind also features Rivers the balladeer.

He is in excellent voice throughout, and seldom gets too far from rock even on the most heavily orchestrated songs from Changes. The analog-to-digital transfers are excellent and the sound is genuinely impressive, even by BGO's usual high standards. 1 Mountain of Love Johnny Rivers 2:36. 2 Promised Land Johnny Rivers 2:40. 3 I Should Have Known Better Johnny Rivers 3:18. 4 I'm in Love Again Johnny Rivers 1:52. 5 Rhythm of the Rain Johnny Rivers 2:20.
