John Lennon, 1969 Anthology. The Ballad Of John And Yoko's bass line and closing guitar riff bear a strong resemblance to the 1957 song Lonesome Tears In My Eyes by The Rock And Roll Trio. The Beatles had covered the song in their earliest days, and in July 1963 recorded it for the radio show Pop Go The Beatles. It was released in 1994 on Live At The BBC. Years later finding out it was just John and Paul on Ballad, it all made sense. A great, great tune – but one wonders how it would have sounded with George adding vocals and playing lead and Ringo adding those syncopated fills only he could do.

Old Brown Shoe" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles. Written by George Harrison, the group's lead guitarist, it was released on a non-album single in May 1969, as the B-side to "The Ballad of John and Yoko". The song was subsequently included on the Beatles' compilation albums Hey Jude, 1967–1970 and Past Masters, Volume Two. The Beatles rehearsed "Old Brown Shoe" during the sessions for their album Let It Be in January 1969.

John Lennon’s uptempo ballad was written in Paris during his and Yoko’s honeymoon in 1969. It is the story of their wedding in Gibraltar, and through Paris to their bed in week in Amsterdam, a short jaunt to Vienna and back to London. Recorded with Paul only, since George and Ringo were out of town. Paul played drums as well as Bass. John played both the rhythm and lead guitar lines. This was the Beatles last single in the UK, and the only one recorded in stereo. It was included on the Beatles compilation album Hey Jude, released in 1970 in North America

The Ballad of John & Yoko" was banned in Phoenix- neither of the Top 40 stations- KRUX or KRIZ would play it. I happened to be visiting my grandparent in Fla, where I heard it. Izzy from Buffalo, Nywhy is that, like, every single good song the beatles make gets banned from the bbc? i mean, seriously, does some guy at the bbc have something against the beatles, and finds the most obscure way to get them banned? . Charles from Charlotte, NcThe 'Peter Brown' mentioned in the song was The Beatles business manager. In 1983 he wrote a bestselling tell-all that revealed much about The Beatles private lives during their glory days. Chet from Saratoga Springs, NyThis song was actually recorded by just John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
