There's no question that Joe Louis Walker deserves all the attention he should receive with his first Alligator release. Through sheer persistence and hard work, Walker has as much if not more cred, talent, and journeyman status than any other blues player of his generation. In addition, he's been releasing albums since 1986, making this one - somewhere around his 25th - an impressive achievement in itself.
Her debut album, Evolution (1993), featured Joe Henderson, and Joe Louis Walker, while her followup, Straight Up With a Twist (1997) had appearances by Charles Brown and Roy Hargrove. These were followed by Left Coast Life (2001) and Heart & Soul: Live in San Francisco (2004). He has released three albums and one EP to date, and works both as a solo musician and, since 2014, as the frontman for the British blues rock group Ten Years After. His most recent solo album was Shake the Walls (2013) released by Jig-Saw Music Ltd. Bonfanti has opened shows for Robert Cray, Chuck Berry, Shuggie Otis, Philip Sayce, Jack Bruce, Beth Hart, John Mayall, Beth Rowley and JJ Grey & Mofro.

- Engineer [Uncredited] – Insync vs. Mysteron (tracks: A1 to B1)
- Producer [Uncredited], Written-By [Uncredited] – Jaime Read
NotesDisplayed credits to Jaime Read and Insync vs. Mysteron do not appear on this release. The label states "Joe Louis appears courtesy of Target Records".
All music on this release was taken without permission from a DAT given to Joe Lewis when he was in the UK in 1995 by Jaime Read. The DAT contained music made during a period when Read was recording at the studios of 10th Planet with Lee Purkis, Chris Hartley and David Manuel (the 3 of whom ran 10th Planet and recorded as Insync vs. Mysteron). An earlier track, titled on this release as "Netherlands", was recorded by Read at the studio of Justin David.
Read was keen to have his music released on Relief, a label with cult status in the underground UK scene. He gave the DAT to Joe Lewis for the purpose of giving to Relief as potential material for the label. Some time later these tracks appeared on Relief as a Joe Louis release entitled "Back To The Beginning", with no credit to the people who actually produced them. A while later, further material from this DAT was released under Louis/Lewis' name on this release and on "The Beginning And The Ending" on Lewis' own Target Records label, again with no mention of the actual producers.
10 years later Peacefrog Records in the UK, unaware of the actual origin of the music, released several of the tracks from these 3 records on a 12" entitled "He's Back" and an album entitled "The Return Of Joe Lewis", which was released on both vinyl and CD.
The track titles shown for the tracks in question were given by Joe Lewis.
