The Symphony No. 9 in E minor, "From the New World", Op. 95, B. 178 (Czech: Symfonie č. 9 e moll „Z nového světa ), popularly known as the New World Symphony, was composed by Antonín Dvořák in 1893 while he was the director of the National Conservatory of Music of America from 1892 to 1895. It is by far his most popular symphony, and one of the most popular of all symphonies.

Dvorak: Symphony No. 9 "From the New World", Smetana: Die Moldau. Beethoven: Symphony N. ; Overtures: "Coriolan", "Fidelio", "Leonore N. ". Renews automatically. I have many of Karajan's recordings of the 5th Symphony: the 1954 Philharmonia; the 1963 and 1977 Berlin Phil. recordings to name a few. I must admit that the 1977 recording is the best of these, in my own humble opinion; the '63 would be a close second. But these 1985 recordings are at a wonderful price and they are worth getting hold of if you are into Beethoven's music as I am.

Herbert von Karajan recorded Ludwig van Beethoven's complete symphonies four times, first in the 1950s with the Philharmonia Orchestra on EMI, then on three more occasions with the Berlin Philharmonic for Deutsche Grammophon. Karajan's 1963 cycle with Berlin is highly regarded by fans for its consistent interpretations and energetic and emotional playing. Collectors usually rate this set higher than the 1977 and 1985 recordings, also with Berlin on DG, which have been criticized for being somewhat more mechanical in performance and clinical in sound quality.
