Selena y Los Dinos (English: Selena and the Guys) was a Tejano band in which American singer Selena performed, until her murder on March 31, 1995. Selena fronted the band since 1981, started by her father Abraham Quintanilla. When Selena was signed with EMI Latin, EMI president José Behar told Selena that the world wanted Selena, not Los Dinos. Selena then began releasing her studio albums under her own logo title Selena and not Selena y Los Dinos.

Alpha is the third album released by Selena y Los Dinos, in 1986, under the newly formed GP Productions, headed by Manny Guerra. When Selena began to emerge as a star, . Quintanilla III became a songwriter and producer. One of his first songs, "Dame Un Beso," became a moderate hit. Alpha, led Selena to win "Female Vocalist of the Year," at the 1987 Hispanic Music Awards, and to be voted for "Female Vocalist of the Year," and "Performer of the Year," at the Tejano Music Awards.

Selena Y Los Dinos, is the debut album by Selena y Los Dinos, under the Freddie Records label. The album didn't do well, despite the radio play of the track, "Ya Se V.
