How David Bowie Brought Thin White Duke to Life on ‘Station to Station’. nightmare, singer-songwriter embraced nasty alter ego and made a classic. Bowie decided to co-produce the album with Harry Maslin, who’d been on hand for his hit John Lennon collaboration Fame. Then he called in Alomar, a veteran of the Young Americans sessions. The guitarist was excited to get back in the studio with Bowie but wanted to streamline the way he recorded. The songs that close each side of Station to Station had a very different tone. Word on a Wing was a dramatic hymn that seemed to express Bowie’s confusion about religion. David ain’t from here. At first I thought didn’t seem to fit, says Alomar, but they took the album into a more human area. They were a release moment so that he could actually cry – there was pain there, and he was able to open up on those songs.
Well, ain't that poster love? Well, it ain't that Barbie doll Her hearts have been broken just like you and. All night (All night )You want the young American Young American, young American, you want the Young American All right You want the young American. In a hodgepodge of political and social imagery, Bowie paints us an image of the America he saw. Luther Vandross participated in background vocals while David Sanborn helped arrange saxophone pieces and backing vocals for the entire album. The original single (radio) version of the song skips from the first chorus to the bridge (omitting Verse 2 and a second refrain of the chorus), and then skips from the third line of Verse 3 ( Or even yesterday? ) to Verse 4. Young Americans was ranked on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

David Bowie, the innovative and iconic singer whose illustrious career lasted five decades with hits like "Fame," ''Heroes" and "Let's Dance," died Sunday after a battle with cancer. David Bowie, who died at age 69 after a cancer battle, was known for a musical catalog so rich with essential material, that no two top 20 lists would be the same. That may be true of any artist but it’s probably truer of Bowie than most. Others are essential album tracks that may have played as big a role as any hit in defining Bowie's singular niche in our cultural history. There are dozens of songs that could have made the list but didn’t, from the psychedelic garage-rock of 1966’s Can’t Help Thinking About Me to any song from Hunky Dory not included to Where Are We Now? from 2013’s The Next Day. Here's one critic's take on Bowie's finest hours. 20. Diamond Dogs (1974). This ain’t rock and roll! This is genocide!

David Bowie in rare form. This album is a true heavyweight amongst the all of the low card fighters. There is no other imagination that can carry through your meaningless existence but David Bowie. Why so low? The title track is one of his best songs. Blue-eyed soul at its best. I love what his American visit in the mid-70's did to his music. My top 5 from the album is: 1. "Young Americans" 2. "Fascination" . ight" 4. "Win" 5. "Who Can I Be Now". I LOVE this album so much that I listen to it every single day since its release. I am actually obsessed with these songs, every next day I love the songs even more. Each word that comes out of his mouth strikes deep in my heart.
