20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is a 1954 live-action film created by Walt Disney, based on the classic novel of the same name by sci-fi author Jules Verne. In the year 1868, rumors of a sea monster attacking ships in the Pacific Ocean have created apprehension and fear among sailors, disrupting shipping lanes
Just five years after Walt Disney released "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" JULES VERN & JAMES MASON (Captain Nemo) MEET AGAIN in 20th Century-Fox's production of "Journey to the Center of the Earth" released in 1959. Despite stinking of copycat in some aspects, this is still a great movie in its own right. SPOILER WARNING! Unfortunately, its trailer may give away a bit too much of this particular adaptation to those who have never seen it before.
Free PDF, epub, Kindle ebook. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea tells the story of Professor Aronnax, Ned Land and Conseil as they get taken captive by the fearsome. Summary: This is the 6th book in the Extraordinary Voyages Series. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea tells the story of Professor Aronnax, Ned Land and Conseil as they get taken captive by the fearsome Captain Nemo aboard the Nautilus. There, they are taken on an undersea adventure which they really enjoy, but still kind of resent being held virtual prisoners by Nemo. Captain Baker thought at first that he was in the presence of an unknown sandbank; he even prepared to determine its exact position when two columns of water, projected by the mysterious object, shot with a hissing noise a hundred and fifty feet up into the air.

The title refers to the distance traveled while under the sea and not to a depth, as 20,000 leagues is over six times the diameter, and nearly twice the circumference of the Earth. The greatest depth mentioned in the book is four leagues. The book uses metric leagues, which are four kilometres each. A literal translation of the French title would end in the plural "seas", thus implying the "seven seas" through which the characters of the novel travel; however, the early English translations of the title used "sea", meaning the ocean in general.
