Always Never the Same is the nineteenth studio album released in 1999 by American country music singer George Strait. The album produced the singles "Meanwhile", "Write This Down", and "What Do You Say to That", which respectively reached and on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) charts in 1999. The title track, "One of You" and "I Look at You" also charted in the lower regions of that chart from unsolicited airplay.

Always Never the Same. The problem with George Strait is this: His albums are so consistently good that a fine effort like Always Never the Same runs the risk of getting overlooked simply because it's not a masterwork like 1996's Blue Clear Sky (to pick but one). Of course, we should wish that all artists could have such a problem. With his smooth, emotive voice, George Strait continues to show the rest of the pack how country music can (and should) be done. Always Never the Same, like the rest of his albums, never panders to the latest trend that happens to be sweeping Nashville at the time.

Always Never the Same is the nineteenth studio album released in 1999 by American country music singer George Strait.

George Strait's songs have turned into more No. 1 hits in each of the three full decades he's worked than most artists would dream of having in their career. George Strait's songs have turned into more No. As the record holder for chart toppers across all genres, Strait has had such a huge number of No. 1 hits that it's very difficult to sort through and choose the Top 20 George Strait songs. The title song and second single from Strait's 29th studio album is a rumination on the nature of life and the passage of time, and songwriters Al Anderson, Ben Hayslip and Jimmy Yeary masterfully present those ideas in the form of a conversation between old friends. From 'One Step at a Time' (1998).
