Greatest Hits, Volume II is the second greatest hits album by the American rock band Chicago, and its fifteenth album overall, released in 1981. Following the poor reception of 1980's Chicago XIV, Columbia Records dropped Chicago from its roster and cancelled a lucrative contract that had recently been signed. While the band had begun its association with David Foster and was in the process of building a new identity, Columbia had contractual obligations for a new release.

Released in November 1981, Greatest Hits, Volume II primarily sampled material from Chicago VIII through 1978's Hot Streets, after which the hits stopped coming, though it also stretches back to pick up overlooked hits from the era first covered by the original compilation album. The maple body prototype for the one-piece cast aluminum frying pan was built by Harry Watson, commercial production began in late summer of 1932 by the Ro-Pat-In Corporation, in Los Angeles, a partnership of Beauchamp, Adolph Rickenbacker, and Paul Barth. In 1934, the company was renamed the Rickenbacker Electro Stringed Instrument Company, in that year Beauchamp applied for a United States patent for an Electrical Stringed Musical Instrument and the patent was issued in 1937.

Picking up where the first volume left off, Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 contains Linda Ronstadt's biggest hits from the late '70s, including such songs as "It's So Easy," "Hurt So Bad," "Blue Bayou," "Back in the . " "Poor Poor Pitiful Me," "Ooh Baby Baby," "How Do I Make You," and "Tumbling Dice. Since Ronstadt's late-'70s albums tended to be a little spotty, this is a very useful summation of their highlights.

Imagine if a Syd Barrett wannabe was granted temporary access to the local comprehensive school's inventory of musical instruments, but only on the strict condition that he knocked out an album's worth of songs over a bank holiday weekend. It sounds like that, sort of. That said, Vardon remains very much his own man. We have an unmistakable personality on our hands with this one. It's an enjoyably off-centre collection of songs unblemished by any of the excesses of the day. Who in the bloody hell is Harry Vardon?
