Black Beauty is an album by the American psychedelic rock band Love, released on February 13, 2012. Issued on High Moon Records, it compiles material from a canceled studio album, which frontman Arthur Lee-backed by a new group with an all-black line-up-planned to have released on the Buffalo Records label. Recorded after a series of unsuccessful albums, both with Love and his 1972 solo effort Vindicator, Black Beauty was intended to serve as Lee's comeback album

With "Vindicator" Lee had put the pretense of Love behind him and, as a solo album, it's quite good but he lacked those collaborators. Nevertheless, Lee had some pretty good material to work with here. There's little to quibble with here. There's also no obvious single which could have helped to sell the album (along with a great cover). Oh, and let's talk about the cover. Covers may not SEEM important but they help sell an album. There are a lot of great rock songs on this album. I was hesitant to purchase anything from Arthur created after Forever Changes because of what critics were saying. However now I understand the critics were just stuck on one formula they wanted Arthur to keep repeating. Arthur Lee was an extremely talented musical genius. These are straight up electric rock songs.
