Montrose was a California-based hard rock band formed in 1973 and named after guitarist and founder Ronnie Montrose. The band's original lineup featured Montrose and vocalist Sammy Hagar, who would later go on to greater fame as a solo artist and as a member of Van Halen. Rounding out the original foursome were bassist Bill Church and drummer Denny Carmassi. The group disbanded in early 1977.

Presents (Montrose album). Presents is the third album by the California-based hard rock band Montrose. It was released on Warner Bros. Records in September 1975. It is the first Montrose album released after the departure of singer Sammy Hagar, the first Montrose album not produced by Ted Templeman, and the first Montrose album to feature a keyboardist as a full member of the band.

Presents Montrose! Released at the tail end of 1975 and produced by Ronnie himself, its pedestrian songwriting and generally plodding, tepid sound alienated what was left of the band's remaining faithful and led to Fitzgerald's departure soon after (he later became a member of Night Ranger). New bassist Randy Jo Hobbs performed on Montrose's last-ditch effort, 1976's Jack Douglas-produced Jump on It.

Montrose, Sammy Hagar with a just over 32 minute 8 song masterpiece. Pick a track, any track- they are all great. Some are the stuff legends are made of and those tracks include- Rock The Nation, Bad Motor Scooter, Space Station Rock Candy, and Good Rockin' Tonight. I love the Original Album Series format. You get a bunch of music for a great price. I got turned on to Montrose in the mid 70's by a friend. He always made it wail. These albums sound great and bring back some good memories.

Montrose was the original Californian hard rock band, pioneering the kind of short and punchy songs ready made for arenas that would be a template for later and more successful bands such as Van Halen. The band featured Ronnie Montrose on guitar (coming off a successful stint in The Edgar Winter Group) and future solo star and Van Halen member Sammy Hagar.
