Johann Gottfried Walther was a German music theorist, organist, composer, and lexicographer of the Baroque era. Walther was born at Erfurt. Not only was his life almost exactly contemporaneous to that of Johann Sebastian Bach, he was the famous composer's cousin. Walther was most well known as the compiler of the Musicalisches Lexicon (Leipzig, 1732), an enormous dictionary of music and musicians

Maurice André - Trumpet Maestro. Includes FREE MP3 version of this album. The late Maurice André (1933-2012) was the greatest classical trumpet player of the 20th c. The first CD of the double-disc Trumpet Maestro is devoted primarily to German and Italian baroque concertos, with Maurice playing his famous piccolo trumpet, made especially for him by Selmer in the early 1960s. The second disc is devoted to the famous concertos of Haydn and Bach, followed by the most expressive pieces of the 20th c. with concertos by Aroutounian, Tomasi and Jolivet.
