Steve Marriott (1947-1991) was a successful and versatile English blue-eyed soul, singer-songwriter and guitarist. He is best remembered for his uniquely powerful voice and aggressive guitar in groups Small Faces (1965-1969) and Humble Pie (1969-1975). In England, Marriott became a popular often photographed mod style icon through his role as lead singer and guitarist with the Small Faces in the mid to late sixties

30th January 1947 – 20th April 1991. Ogdens. as the album The Small Faces had been wanting to make ever since the 1960s had turned psychedelic a couple of years earlier. Drummer Kenny (now Kenney) Jones and keyboardist Ian McLagan, along with guitarist and lead singer Steve Marriott and bassist Ronnie Lane, had shot to the forefront of the Swinging London scene, sharp-dressed mods with a sound to match. Their knowledge of soul, Tamla Motown and R&B was unrivalled – and it showed.
This album was originally released in 1976 as Steve Marriott's first solo album after the breakup of Humble Pie. It's a very worthwhile album although it didn't sell well when it was first released in 1976, it got very little critical attention or radio air play and it quickly faded from view. It was apparently deleted from the record company's catalogue in 1980 and wasn't re-released until this CD was put out by Lemon Records in 2005

Surprisingly, frontman Steve Marriott's first solo album after the split, 1976's Marriott, is a sprightly, rollicking affair that is light on the blues-rock of Humble Pie and heavy on soul, funk, and hard-charging rock & roll. The album is divided into a British side (recorded by Marriott's band that included ex-T. Rex guitarist Mickey Finn) and an American side (with backing by a raft of West Coast session players including Michael Nesmith sidekick Red Rhodes on pedal steel).
