If you are a fan of Ella Fitzgerald, this contains 16 tracks of the incomparable Ella singing standards. Even if you have never heard of Ella this is a great gateway into her style with jazz. Recorded between 1956 and 1964, Fitzgerald's finest years, the CD includes arrangements by Nelson Riddle, Billy May, and Buddy Bregman, as well as a superb rendering of "I've Got It Bad" with the Ellington orchestra and Johnny Hodges. This album came quickly & was not damaged. I highly recommend this album & this seller. If You are a fan of Ella Fitzgerald,or just like swing music or upbeat jazz this album is a must have. 2 people found this helpful.

No other song brings to light her ability to glide into a song as the opening of "'S Wonderful," on which Fitzgerald adds a Charleston-era slang with great charisma in the verse. Cole Porter's "Love for Sale" is credibly one of her most haunting tunes, featuring a musician's muted trumpets that set the stage for higher-quality adult music with more passionate and sensual substance

The Ella Fitzgerald Song Books were a series of eight studio albums released in irregular intervals between 1956 and 1964, recorded by the American jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald, supported by a variety of orchestras, big bands, and small jazz combos. The eight albums are as follows, with arrangers in parentheses: Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Cole Porter Song Book (1956) (Buddy Bregman). Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Rodgers & Hart Song Book (1956) (Bregman).
