Released on November 7, 1995, it was the follow-up to the highly successful Dirt. Similar to Dirt, the album's songs focus on heavy subject matter such as depression, isolation, drug use, anger and death.

Alice in Chains came out of the early '90s grunge scene that included Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden. Their debut album, Facelift, was released in 1990 but didn't pick up steam until a year later, thanks to "Man In The Bo. Because there were no grunge arena headliners, they had to open for bands like Van Halen, Anthrax and Poison. Staley died of a heroin overdose in 2002. Cantrell and Staley met at the Seattle warehouse rehearsal space, the Music Bank. This would later be the name of a 4-CD set released by the group

Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell discusses how the band is honoring its Seattle comrades on new album 'Rainier Fo. Pamela Littky. Jerry Cantrell never stopped playing air guitar. It happens anytime a riff comes along that grabs his attention, sending the Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum guitarist for Alice in Chains into spasms of hard-rock ecstasy, as his fingers mime the sounds hammering his eardrums. Rainier Fog is the third Alice in Chains album recorded with DuVall, a singer-guitarist who helped the band experience an unexpected new chapter following the death of Staley. After a 2006 world tour together, ideas for new music began to emerge. You get guys like us together and shit’s just going to start happening, says Cantrell, who first worked with DuVall when he toured as part of the guitarist’s Degradation Trip solo tour.

Producer – Alice In Chains, Toby "Flobee" Wright. Recorded By – Toby "Flobee" Wright, Tom "Magnum" Nellen. Recorded By – Sam Hofstedt. the man that finally allowed alice in chains to record a few great records: the acoustic one was the universally acclaimed jar of flies and the electric one was the strangely universally panned third record. i will certainly accept that this record takes the band in a few different directions. the riffs are grindier than before, the production is darker and heavier, the melodies are more dissonant. jerry cantrell sounds less like slash and more like robert fripp, the better tracks are pushing 8 minutes, the floyd influence is a lot stronger. the result is that this album.

Alice in Chains is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1987 by guitarist and vocalist Jerry Cantrell and drummer Sean Kinney, who later recruited bassist Mike Starr and lead vocalist Layne Staley. Starr was replaced by Mike Inez in 1993. William DuVall joined the band in 2006 as co-lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, replacing Staley, who died in 2002. The band took its name from Staley's previous group, the glam metal band Alice N' Chains. Since its formation, Alice in Chains has released six studio albums, three EPs, three live albums, four compilations, two DVDs, 41 music videos, and 32 singles. The band is known for its distinctive vocal style, which often included the harmonized vocals between Staley and Cantrell. Cantrell started to sing lead vocals on the 1992 acoustic EP Sap, and his role continued to grow in the following albums, making Alice in Chains a two-vocal band.

I love Alice In Chains and especially the late Layne Staley. That being said, this was released about two years before his death. let's just say fit for an unplugged DVD. This disk, "Live", has a great song selection. And that's a very good thing
