Luise Volkmann is a passionate storyteller or, if you will, a subtle portraitist – two traits that ideally coincide. The story she wants to tell is always at the heart of all her pieces. She reflects on the form and structure but also on the dynamics and the dramatic composition that the storytelling should have and then finds the musicians she needs for her narrative. On the album it’s portraits of people who have shown me how you can live your life well. Eudaimonia is a collection of portraits of people who have found solutions for their own life and have thus inspired Luise Volkmann.

Friedrich Robert Volkmann, (Hungarian: Volkmann Róbert), (6 April 1815, Lommatzsch bei Meißen – 30 October 1883, Budapest) was a German composer. Robert Volkmann was born in Lommatzsch, Saxony, Germany. His father, a music director for a church, trained him in music to prepare him as a successor. Thus Volkmann learned to play the organ and the piano with his father, studied violin and cello with Friebel, and by age 12 he was playing the cello part in string quartets by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven
