The Transfiguration of Blind Joe Death is a 1965 album by American fingerstyle guitarist and composer John Fahey. As with all of Fahey's independently released early albums, it had little critical recognition upon release. The album has grown in stature since its reissue on CD in 1997 and is now highly regarded critically

In 1967, Takoma decided to re-record Fahey's Blind Joe Death for the stereo market. To make matters more confusing, it was issued with the same catalog number as the 1964 release that had mixed cuts from the 1959 Blind Joe Death LP with 1964 remakes of Blind Joe Death material.

Blind Joe Death is the first album by American fingerstyle guitarist and composer John Fahey. The recording of steel-string acoustic guitar solos was "incredibly avant-garde" in 1959. It was released on Takoma Records, Fahey's own label.
