Silk Road 2 was originally part of a double album called Silk Road (there is a Part 1 too). So if you want the full experience you will need to get the first one as well. So if you have to pick one this is it. I believe this music was part of the documentary series The Silk Road: The Rise And Fall Of Civilizations. Kitaro was commissioned to create music for the series. Silk Road (1&2) by Kitaro remains, to me, his best recorded work and with a genius like Kitaro that's saying something. The sound quality on this digital remaster is excellent. One person found this helpful.

The Silk Road: The Rise And Fall Of Civilizations is an NHK Tokushu documentary series that first aired on 7 April 1980, with sequels being broadcast over a 10-year period. It took a total of 17 years from conception to complete what many consider a landmark in Japan's broadcasting television history. The intention of the program was to reveal how ancient Japan was influenced by the Silk Road trade route. The documentary was narrated by Ishizaka Koji with music composed by Kitaro, who insisted that the show be broadcast in stereo Sacred Journey of Ku-Kai series.
