So Alan Silva was asked to sit in with William Parker, Roy Campbell, and Daniel Carter. Fractured Dimensions is the documentation of this one-time encounter. They sound a bit cold and intrusive. But Silva 's playing is so colorful that one quickly leaves his apprehensions behind.

Fractured Dimensions. Fractured Dimensions is an album by American jazz double bassist William Parker, which was recorded live during the Berlin Total Music Meeting in 1999 and released on the German FMP label in 2003 Contents. Daniel Carter - flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet.

William Parker (born January 10, 1952) is an American free jazz double bassist, t, poet and composer. Parker was born in the Bronx, New York City. He was not formally trained as a classical player, though he did study with Jimmy Garrison, Richard Davis, and Wilbur Ware and learned the tradition. Parker is one of few jazz bassists who frequently plays arco. He also plays several other instruments from around the world, including the West African kora.

Daniel Carter: flute, trumpet, tenor, alto & soprano saxophones, clarinet William Parker: bass Matthew Shipp: piano. Seraphic Light is an exemplary long-form work of collective creative improvisation, performed by three masters of this high art. It was recorded live in the performance hall of Tufts University (Boston) in April 2017. He first came to AUM Fidelity label head Steven Joerg’s attention as a part of the seminal group Other Dimensions In Music (w/ Parker, Rashid Bakr, and the late Roy Campbell, deeply missed). Among the greatest fully-improvising bands in jazz history, ODIM were a most welcome & heralded presence on NYC stages throughout the 90s and into the 2000s. One of AUM’s first signings, their album, Now! aumfidelity. com/album/now, was made in 1997, the label’s heady year of birth.
