Roger Williams (October 1, 1924 – October 8, 2011), born Louis Jacob Weertz, was an American popular music pianist. As of 2004, he had released 116 albums. He was born to a Lutheran minister, the Rev. Frederick J. Weertz (1891–1980) and a music teacher, Dorothea Bang Weertz (1895–1985), in Omaha, Nebraska. The family moved to Des Moines, Iowa, before his first birthday. He first played the piano at age three.

Roger Deans first album cover was for the self titled album from the band Gun who had a distinctive psych-flavored proto-metal" sound, although the work was not really created as an album cover by Dean, meaning that the band pulled an existing image out of his portfolio and asked if they could use it for such. The imagery is a bit darker than that which Dean is later known for. Atomic Rooster "In Hearing Of" 1971. Roger Williams' third, self-titled album for Kapp was his breakthrough featuring the number one smash from the summer of 1955, "Autumn Leaves. Backed by Glenn Osser's dramatic strings, the 30 year old's rippling piano sounds are a dynamic contrast as well as complement to the "full, rich orchestra" described in the liner notes
