Robert Parker Jameson (April 20, 1945 – May 12, 2015) was an American singer-songwriter who was briefly promoted as a major star in the early 1960s and later attracted a cult following with his 1965 album Songs of Protest and Anti-Protest, issued under the name Chris Lucey. The album's dark lyrics and sophisticated arrangements led its advocates to note similarities with Love's 1967 album Forever Changes.

Dedicated to Bobby Jameson begins at the end and ends at the beginning. We follow the protagonist through a battery of tests and milestones, the first of which sees him reborn into life out of death, Pink explains, referencing the opening track Time To Meet Your God. From there, he seesaws his way between the innocent love and the rock-solid edifice of childhood-worn trauma that together constitute his lifelong initiation into the realm of artifice and theatrical disposability. All components housed in a translucent slipcase. Bobby Jameson was a victim of hype. In the early 1960s, as the Beatles took over America, Jameson’s manager took a creative approach to promote the fledgling Los Angeles singer-songwriter. An increasingly ambitious series of ads appeared over several weeks in Billboard magazine. They began with a cryptic tease: a black-and-white silhouette of a man and a guitar, promising the world’s next phenomenon. When his face finally appeared, along with the announcement of his new record ( Bobby Jameson Says ‘I’m So Lonely,’ it read), he looked awkward, unprepared, frightened. The song tanked and the. Alternately contained and sprawling, Dedicated to Bobby Jameson is a shimmering pop odyssey that represents more astonishing peaks and menacing valleys in the career of a man who, through sheer originality and nerve, has become an American rock and roll institution. The album marks his first full-length release with the Brooklyn-based independent label Mexican Summer.

Bobby Jameson has been played on NTS in shows including Who's That Girl? w/ Leyla Pillai, featured first on 4 September 2017. Songs played include I'll Remember Them, See Dawn and Candy Colored Dragon. Pianoman, harp player and singer Bobby Jameson, who recorded some of Franks Zappa's early material in the beginning of the '60s, included a cover of "The Weight" on his second solo album Working! from 1969. Born Robert Parker James in Tucson, Arizona, he recorded a few 45s for Verve that did well on Radio stations in Cleveland, OH and Detroit, MI, in the early '60s, then went to the UK and.

Backed by The Leaves

Sadly this song was buried on a terrible exploitation album "Mondo Hollywood" but there are clips of Bobby recording this in the movie of the same name, so one small reason to check that lacklustre, deviant themed movie. Bobby just never got a break.
