The Man I Love is an album by jazz singer Peggy Lee with an orchestra arranged by Nelson Riddle and conducted by Frank Sinatra. Critic William Ruhlmann wrote that Sinatra directed Lee to sing like Billie Holiday, "to reinforce the near-victimhood of the woman depicted in the songs. hint of dark things" in "a superb pairing of singer, conductor, and arranger".

I'm A Woman (1963): Peggy Lee's I'm a Woman LP is a good example of a quickie album project put together on the fly to take advantage of a hit single rising up the chart, in this case, of course, the R&B-inflected title song written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Benny Carter conducted that track, as well as the jazzy version of "I'll Get By" here, but the rest of the short (under half an hour) disc was handled by Dick Hazard, who brought in a small, versatile band to come up with blues, jazz, and Latin arrangements of some familiar material including Fats. William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide Norma Deloris Egstrom From Jamestown, North Dakota (1972): Peggy Lee returns to her roots, at least by name and location, with Norma Deloris Egstrom from Jamestown, North Dakota, reminding fans of the name and place on her birth certificate.

No album called Bossa Nova Ala Lee ever materialized. Among the many possible explanations that come to mind (. perhaps the columnist was misinformed, or perhaps plans for the album were postponed and then never re-activated), there is one particular scenario that I consider worth pondering.
Norma Deloris Egstrom (May 26, 1920 – January 21, 2002), known professionally as Peggy Lee, was an American jazz and popular music singer, songwriter, composer, and actress, in a career spanning six decades. From her beginning as a vocalist on local radio to singing with Benny Goodman's big band, she forged a sophisticated persona, evolving into a multi-faceted artist and performer. During her career, she wrote music for films, acted, and recorded conceptual record albums that combined poetry and music.
