Power Windows is the band’s 11th studio album, released in 1985. It was the first time the band worked with producer Peter Collins. The album was recorded at The Manor in England, AIR Studios in Montserrat and at Sarm East Studios in London. Power Windows launched an era in which the band expanded into new sonic directions, and featured synths heavily. It was also the album where Geddy switched to using a Wal bass, made by a small English company. He’d use the Wal as his main bass all the way through the Roll The Bones album and tour

Like much of the band's '80s output, Power Windows finds Rush juggling their hard-rock heritage with new technology to mixed results.

Power Windows, which is Rush's eleventh studio, album falls right in the middle of Rush's electronica synth era. Power Windows contains eight tracks, each one very different in its own way, spanning over a duration of almost fifty minutes with no song being under the five minute mark and two over six minutes (Marathon, Territories). These lengths are not like their older records like 2112 and have a tolerable length and most have continuous changing riffs and tempos, making it seem almost like a couple of songs into one, although some may feel some do go on for too long.

Moving Pictures is the eighth studio album by the Canadian rock band Rush, released on February 12, 1981, on Anthem Records. After touring to support their previous album, Permanent Waves (1980), the band started to write and record new material in August 1980 with co-producer Terry Brown. They continued to write songs with a more radio-friendly format, featuring tighter song structures and songs of shorter length compared to their early albums.
