The figure of Mother Goose is the imaginary author of a collection of French fairy tales and later of English nursery rhymes. As a character, she appeared in a song, the first stanza of which often functions now as a nursery rhyme. This, however, was dependent on a Christmas pantomime, a successor to which is still performed in the United Kingdom.

It's an album intended for children, who will surely marvel at all the classic stories and the singalong melodies. Some of the featured rhymes include "Old King Cole," "Mary Had a Little Lamb," "Hey Diddle Diddle," and "Humpty Dumpty. None of the rhymes are overly long. The album's emphasis certainly seems to be on quantity as it manages to cram 40 different Mother Goose rhymes onto one disc. Part of a series of children's albums produced by Drive Entertainment. Other albums in the series include Aesop's Fables, Bedtime Fairy Tales,.

A truly wonderful album with songs and games all the way from Humpty Dumpty to I had a little doll. This was the first Sharon, Lois and Bram album that I ever heard. When I was a kid, friends and family gave me copies of "Sing A to Z," "One Elephant," and "Happy Birthday," But I still think that Mainly Mother Goose is their best album. Perhaps Sharon, Lois, and Bram could do a Christmas album in a few years.
