Amebix is a name that you’ll have come up against more than once if you’re a long-in-the-tooth fan of heavy music. The band's squalid, uncomfortable mix of anarcho-crust lyrical drive and sludgy death metal sonic dynamics has proved a fertile template for more than one bunch of noisy upstarts since the band’s Devon-based inception in the late seventies. of quality sonic bombardments you’ve just been subjected to. Much like Killing Joke’s last album, Sonic Mass is a record that synthesises bang your head gonzoid mayhem to intelligent lyrical observation to such an effective extent that you’ll find yourself returning to it again and again. Fantastic stuff, and definite album of the year material. Reply Notify me 1 Helpful.

Monolith is the second studio album by the British crust punk band Amebix, released in 1987 by Heavy Metal Records. Short after its release, Amebix disbanded, and Monolith would be their final studio album until they reunited in 2008 and released a new album, Sonic Mass, in 2011. It was re-released in 2008 as a sliding-scale download by Moshpit Tragedy Records. The album was remastered and re-released again in 2016 on Easy Action Records.

Sonic Mass is the third and final studio album by the British crust punk band Amebix, released on 23 September 2011 via the band's own label, Amebix Records. It was also their first full-length album since 1987's Monolith. An animated music video was made for the track "Knights of the Black Sun"; it was released on 3 June 2011. The Baron Rockin von Aphid (Rob Miller) - vocals, bass. Stig Da Pig (Chris Miller) - guitars. Roy Mayorga - drums, keyboards.

Twenty-four years after their breakup, they have released the hotly anticipated Sonic Mass. Case in point: opener "Days" sounds like some kind of alt-rock.

Amebix - Sonic Mass 10 songs lyrics: Days, Shield Wall, The Messenger, God of the Grain, Visitation, Sonic Mass Part 1, Sonic Mass Part 2, Here Come the Wolf, The One, Knights of the Black Su. A. Amebix Lyrics (10 songs). Sonic Mass Lyrics (10 songs).

The album seamlessly blends technical metal with ambience, tribal rhythms and the act's trademark crust punk. The abiding advocacy of Amebix has been successfully reawakened and finds itself realized in an intense collection of brutally fierce songs. The Messenger starts mysteriously only to transform into a monolithic cascade of frantic guitar riffs courtesy of Chris Miller. His brother, Rob delivers clanking bass lines along with harsh, yet sorrowful vocals that recall the work of Jaz Coleman (Killing Joke) sharing the same aesthetics.

Just a warning... I ordered the first pressing directly from Easy Action a few years ago. It arrived fairly damaged due to the extremely poor packaging. We're talking like cardboard that was as sturdy as the back of a pad of paper. Easy Action shit the bed.

In its 2011 incarnation, Amebix is an altogether more sophisticated beast, plying a riff-heavy trade that, especially on the likes of the strident God of the Grain or the utterly convincing Here Come the Wolf (sic), comes on like a reggae/electronica-free version of the mighty Killing Joke. There’s literally no fat on this release at all, as each one of the ten tracks gets straight to the point, the result being an album that delivers a constant stream of high quality, intelligently bombastic doom, interspersed with the likes of the quasi-title track, Sonic Mass Part 1 where the band ventures into the kind of neofolk territory that’s usually the domain of acts such as Sol Invictus . Follow up track Sonic Mass Part 2 adds a bit of Motorhead and Hawkwind to the mix, but this album is more – so much more – than a mere game of spot the influence.By the time you reach the final brace of tracks – the swirlingly maelstromic The One and the space/goth rock armageddon of Knights of the Black Sun (where the band throws in a huge dollop of Bauhaus into the mix in a move guaranteed to throw you into a gleeful black-clad meltdown) you’ll have been rendered speechless by the consistent assault of quality sonic bombardments you’ve just been subjected to. Much like Killing Joke’s last album, Sonic Mass is a record that synthesises bang your head gonzoid mayhem to intelligent lyrical observation to such an effective extent that you’ll find yourself returning to it again and again. Fantastic stuff, and definite album of the year material.
