Baba O'Riley", a song by the British rock band the Who, is the opening track to the band's studio album Who's Next, and was issued in Europe as a single on 23 October 1971, coupled with "My Wife". Roger Daltrey sings most of the song, with Pete Townshend singing the middle eight: "Don't cry/don't raise your eye/it's only teenage wasteland". The song's title is a combination of the names of two of Townshend's philosophical and musical influences: Meher Baba and Terry Riley.

Teenage wasteland It's only teenage wasteland Teenage wasteland Oh, oh Teenage wasteland They're all wasted! . What do you think? Don't cry Don't raise your eye It's only teenage wasteland. show more I have read some interpretations about this song, but I am not satisfied with the interpretation of the lyrics of the refrain. I don't think it is about drugs or about pollution. The song was written for a rock opera called Lifehouse, which takes place in the future where there's been a war that drove everyone from the city out into the country, and everyone is dependent on this virtual reality type of entertainment. In this world, a lot of teenagers run away from home, and they're just these roaming gypsies out in the countryside. In the end, they head into the city for a big concert that's supposed to change the world.

Album Rock’n’Roll Music. Teenage Wasteland Lyrics. Out here in the fields I fight for my meals I get my back into my living I don't need to fight To prove I'm right I don't need to be forgiven. Don't cry Don't raise your eye It's only teenage wasteland Sally, take my hand Travel south crossland Put out the fire Don't look past my shoulder The exodus is here The happy ones are near Let's get together Before we get much older.
Wussy - Teenage Wasteland (MP3). There's no two ways about it: Wussy is criminally underappreciated. The Cincinnati band, which formed over a dozen years ago when then Ass Ponys frontman Chuck Cleaver convinced current Wussy co-leader Lisa Walker to join him on stage for a "solo" show, write and perform songs so good that critics no less than the Village Voice's esteemed Robert Christgau declare them to be "the best band in America". Understandably, the songs on Attica!, their new LP, reflect the blue-collar world they're written in, but they're so full of raw passion - a yearning for release, a desire to be something or somewhere else, a seeking "parts unknown" - that they transcend place, class and local ideology to become anthems for the dreamers, freaks, and beautiful monsters wherever they're found.
