From the Album of the Same Name is the 1974 debut album by Pilot, containing the international hit "Magic". The album was initially released in 1974 by EMI, and later re-released on CD by EMI Japan in 1990 and by C-Five (Chapter Five) Records, in 1991. Ian Bairnson plays guitar on this album but, at the time, was not a group member. He joined the group, officially, after it had been recorded. Richard Hewson made the orchestral arrangements. All tracks written by David Paton and Billy Lyall.

Pilot, along with producer Alan Parsons, crafted an album of light prog-rock and melodic soft pop-rock. All of the album sounds terrific, and there are some catchy melodies, but there aren't many great songs, just a lot of adequate ones. As a result, it's simply an artifact of its era, but it's an enjoyable one at that. Stephen Thomas Erlewine. 1 Just a Smile Pilot 3:13. 2 Magic Pilot 3:1. 3 Lucky for Some Pilot 3:11.

Album From the Album of the Same Name. Oh, ho, ho It's magic you know Never believe, it's not so It's magic, you know Never believe, it's not so. Never been awake Never seen a day break Leaning on my pillow in the morning Lazy day in bed Music in my head Crazy music playing in the morning light. It was written by Pilot’s David Paton for their debut album, From the Album of the Same Name. It charted most successfully in Canada, where it reached No. 1, topping the RPM national singles chart on 19 July 1975, and received a gold certification. It climbed as far as on the UK Singles Chart and reached No. 5 during the summer of 1975 in the United States on the Billboard Hot 100.

The album was released in 1969, though the group was formed in 1965. Over a half century later they are still going strong with four original members and many other long-timers. One example few people know and even fewer would admit they know, Village People had a song called Village People on their first album, Village People. This one does not quite qualify but I thought it is worth mentioning, the band Chic has a song called Chic Cheer on their album C’est Chic. What other bands have the following in common: The name of the band, is the same name as their album, which is also the same name as their hit songs, (example Bad Company, from the Bad Company album, with the song Bad Company)? Bad Sabbath. The song Black Sabbath from the album Black Sabbath by the band Black Sabbath.
