Bloom in the Commune - Burton Greene.

However, this set's main value is the improvising of altoist Marion Brown, who manages to sound both lyrical and very exploratory on the four Greene originals.

Gary Burton (born January 23, 1943) is an American jazz vibraphonist, composer, and educator. Burton developed a pianistic style of four-mallet technique as an alternative to the prevailing two-mallet technique. This approach caused him to be heralded as an innovator, and his sound and technique are widely imitated. He is also known for pioneering fusion jazz and popularizing the duet format in jazz, as well as being a major figure in music education from his 30 years at the Berklee College of Music.

Burton Green, Patty Waters and Sun Ra all toured New York's state colleges in 1966 on an excursion put together by ESP-Disk as a way to expose this great music to the audience they felt would best appreciate it. Recordings of Sun Ra and Patty Waters from this tour have been released, but there don't seem to be any of Burton Greene. As for this album, this is very difficult music to categorize-it's jazz only in the most general sense. I consider this album an absolute classic.
