The jazz albums listed below are among the greatest ever recorded. Mostly selected from the golden "modern" jazz music era of 1940's to the 1970's, these recordings captured the great passion and emotion that these musicians spent a lifetime developing. Kind Of Blue - Miles Davis While it is one of the top selling jazz albums of all time, many consider this to be THE best jazz album of all time. This may be because this unrehearsed recording session from 1959 marks a great turning point in jazz history as well as showcasing the top form of some legendary musicians. This album had a strong influence from Eastern European culture as Brubeck used many of their rhythms and time signatures. The complex rhythms he uses sound unique yet very natural and easy to listen to, probably the reason for it's success.

The 50 Greatest Live Jazz Albums. Published on. February 27, 2017. For many of us, when it is played live is the best way to hear jazz. Seems like my favourite live jazz album didn’t make the cut. Recorded Live at the Monterey Jazz Festival by John Handy. February 27, 2017 at 5:41 pm. THE live recorded concert. I agree any of those great live Art Pepper recordings with George Cables where he played his heart out should be on the list. June 29, 2017 at 8:46 pm. A little Chick? Reply.

Rolling Stone’s definitive list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. King’s first album for the Stax label combines his hard, unflashy guitar playing with the sleek sound of the label’s house band, Booker T. and the MG’s. Hits such as Crosscut Saw and Laundromat Blues earned King a new rock & roll audience.

If there is anything in the list that you don’t agree with, let us know  . Nice Try, Anybody in there right mine knows that Miles Davis’s Kind of Blue is the 1 jazz Album of all time.

Among the tons of great jazz piano recordings, Solo Monk always have my top favor on jazz piano, and the album was so brilliant and great. The quality of recording is excellent, music is superb, and I can’t think of other jazz piano recording quite like this album. I heard this album 20 years ago, and it still remains same to me, and still gives me the first impression I got 20 years ago. This jazz piano album still turn me on after 20 years has been passed.

I will save a special lump of coal just for you. "The Christmas Song" by Dexter Gordon From The Panther! (Original Jazz Classics). Here Comes Santa Claus" by Ramsey Lewis From Sound Of Christmas (Chess/MCA). Every family should serve up some Christmas Bird. Snowfall" by Ahmad Jamal Trio From Cross Country Tour 1958-1961 (Chess MCA). I've never heard a bad version of this aptly titled Claude Thornhill song, but Jamal's version is exceptional for his unexpected phrasing and Vernel Fournier's gently marching snare.
