The Everly Brothers is the 1958 eponymous debut album of close harmony rock and roll duo The Everly Brothers. The album peaked at No. 16 on Billboard's "pop albums" chart and launched three very successful singles. Originally on the Cadence label, (CLP-3003), the album was re-released on LP in 1988 by EMI and on CD in 2000 by Emporio Records. It was re-released again in 2009 on 180-gram vinyl by Doxy music.

However, when Warner Bros released The Very Best of the Everly Brothers in 1964, rather than focusing entirely on their post-'60s hits or licensing the original Cadence recordings, the Everlys were sent into the studio to re-record the six early hits listed above. The new versions aren't at all bad, and the arrangements follow the pattern of the originals closely, but the simple fact is you can't improve on perfection, and the re-cuts lack the magic of the originals. The six Warner Bros hits included in this album are, of course, presented in their original recordings, and "Cathy's Clown," "Crying in the Rain" and "Walk Right Back" rank with the duo's finest work, but when the cover says this represents The Very Best of the Everly Brothers, that description is only half right.

The Everly Brothers was an American (Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, USA) duo of singing brothers: Don and Phil, (Don Everly, born Isaac Donald Everly February 1, 1937, Brownie, Kentucky; Phil Everly, born Phillip Everly, January 19, 1939, Chicago, Illinois, died January 3, 2014, in Burbank, California). The pair of male siblings became top-selling country-influenced rock and roll performers, best known for their steel-string guitar playing and close harmony singing. Their greatest period of chart success came between 1957 and 1961.
